  Chop and Change

  SO there we go - first week of uni for 2007, over and done with.... anyone else feeling old?

  Whenever a new semester starts, everyone always focuses on the first yrs... but my question to you: is what about us?

  What about the second or third yrs that have suddenly found themselves halfway through their course and have finally realized that they can't do shit with their degrees... that the only way their degree could serve any practical use would be if they printed it on toilet paper....?  What about all the poor souls that, this time next year, will actually be looking for a real job that doesn't involve calling single mothers around dinner time, telling them that they have won a prize that they never signed up for and don't want?

  A lot to think about... i know.

  SO forgive me if i'm not sympathetic to the needs and *worries* of first years, forgive me if i give them wrong directions around uni, forgive me if i borrow their cool (but totally unnecessary) pens and don't return them, and don't forget to forgive me if i totally endorse the notion that girls should definitely go out with older guys as long as he wasn't born earlier than 1986.   

  But some things don't change. 

  This week alone, i've been unable to find my class like two or three times due to incompetence on both my part ( i was an hour early) and the university's ( whose bright idea was it to put a politics subject in the architecture building?). 

  Also after three years, you'd think that your attention span or at least the caffeine in my bloodstream would grant me the ability to stay awake for at least the majority of a one hour lecture.

  No such luck.  As soon as i walk into a lecture and sit down - its like as if someone has drugged me... and then, as a second thought, decides to use a plank of wood to the back of the head as a safer bet.  I just cant seem to stay awake... its depressing.  But i have to admit, the lecture sure does go a hell lot faster when you're asleep, so much so that i suspect that the theory that lecture time goes in slow motion, when awake and fast forward, when asleep - may be true.

  ANYWAY, on a totally different note - i joined Facebook after resisting much nagging and harassment by people around me (you ALL know who you are!!). You guys really don't know me that well - i'm really not someone that jumps on bandwagons willingly and even less so when pressured to do so.  I'm more like one of those people that will do things that other people tell them not to.. "DON'T drink this....??. it's acid? Give me that.... what the hell would you know anyway?... PHD in science? PHD could stand for anything..! Do i look like an idiot? Well, do i?.."

  Man i got an 'i-pod' before they became *really* cool (and before they became lighter than your average brick)... just look at it! "Third Generation" baby... and the only one to have sperate touch sensitive buttons.... i call him "lil' bastard"

   

     woohoo - i finally have an antique!!

  ANYWAY, i have to admit that Facebook does have its moments... except i've had it less than a week and i've already been called a "whore", an addict, a "SUCKA", and my spelling has been made fun of.... so not exactly the friendliest of atmospheres... i guess that's why they call it "Facebook".... "IN YOUR FACE BITCH.... now, in book-form!!"
